Amanita Muscaria, also known as fly argaric or fly amanita is a particular species of mushroom from the Amanita genus. It's by far the most iconic for its white gills, red color and white spots. Many people will recognize Amanita Muscaria from its appearances throughout pop culture most notably in Super Mario Bros and Alice in Wonderland. At Shroomz, we use the primary active ingredient, Muscimol as the base for our product formulas.

Muscimol is the principle psychoactive compound commonly found throughout the Amanita Genus. Muscimol is a potent agonist for the GABA-a receptors which leads to its sedative / hypnotic effects. In small doses, Muscimol has been found to promote sleep, as well as anti-anxiety and calming effects. At Shroomz, we air on the side of micro-dosing Muscimol. As with most things like caffeine, sleep-aids, or other supplements, more isn't always the appropriate way to use it. Typically, effects from Muscimol are felt after 1 hour and peak after about 3 hours.

At Shroomz we air on the side of micro dosing for the therapeutic values Muscimol provides. Although taking a "Hero Dose" of Amanita Muscaria / Muscimol have reported tripping / hallucinations, our product lines are not designed for that experience.

At Shroomz, our primary goal is isolation of the Muscimol ingredient. We use a decarboxylation method to convert ibotenic acid out of the raw materials. Then we use an additional distillation method to create a Muscimol concentrate that is used in our products. This method helps our gummies maintain a great flavor and texture as well as deliver a consistent experience.

Currently, Amanita Muscaria / Muscimol is unregulated and is allowed to be purchased in 49 states with the exception of Louisiana.

Amanita Muscaria is not meant to be consumed in its raw form. However, with processing Shroomz has been able to minimize adverse effects through our isolation protocol. As of this writing, Shroomz products have not had reports of adverse side effects that are experienced when consuming raw Amanita Mushrooms. Common side effects from consuming raw Amanita Muscaria are typically cramps and nausea.
